About the Generac Industrial Power Engineer Symposium

The Generac Industrial Power Engineering Symposium is a 3-day event designed for the practicing engineer to walk away with a better understanding of generator sizing, application, and code compliance.

The depth to which each presenter took us was very thorough and the range of presenters provided complete updates of generator theories, software for calculations, and considerations for various environments. The visits to two manufacturing facilities were evidence that the machines are built well and are tested to validate performance. This recent training and factory continue to make it easy to write a specification based on a Generac Generator.

Generac’s Engineering Power Symposium offers six 90-minute educational PDH’s and CEU’s courses covering topics from generator sizing and paralleling to better understanding common codes and standards. This 3-day event includes interactive tours of Generac’s world-class manufacturing facilities and peer-to-peer networking and social opportunities, going beyond the classroom.

Awarding Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
The Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), which sponsors the CEU/PDH units, accredited the Generac Power Systems Professional Development Series. MSOE was founded in 1903 on the basis of an educational philosophy that integrates two basic elements of learning; theory and practice. MSOE offers 20 Bachelor's degrees and 10 Master's degree programs in areas related to engineering, business, nursing, and construction management. MSOE is well known for its close association with business and industry. In 2006, U.S. News & World Report ranked MSOE among the top colleges in Engineering Programs and Engineering Specialties. The purpose of the Continuing Education Unit is to provide a permanent record of the educational accomplishment of the individual who has attained certain competencies as a result of one or more significant non-credit educational experiences. One CEU is defined as 10 contact hours of student participation in an organized educational experience under responsible leadership, capable direction, and qualified instruction.

Adhering to MSOE standards, policies, and procedures, Generac Power Systems Professional Development Series was developed with the following guidelines requested by MSOE to award 1 CEU or 10 PDH credit(s).

MSOE requirements for earning CEUs include:
  • A minimum acceptable attendance requirement
  • Active class participation
  • Pre-determined outcome(s) using student assessment tool(s)
